PRAYER FOR THE GIFT THE JESUS PRAYER
(Compiled by the Elders of Optina Monastery)
Lord Jesus
Christ, Son of God!
Angels and
men bow down before Thy Name.
The powers
of hell tremble before it.
Thy Name is
the sure weapon which drives away all adversaries.
Thy Name
scorches sins and passions.
Thy Name
gives strength in ascetic labors, gathers our scattered mind into one, and
enriches us with virtues in the fulfillment of Thy commandments.
Thy name
works miracles and unites us with Thee, grants us peace and joy in the Holy
Spirit, and the Heavenly Kingdom is possible in the future life.
Therefore I,
thine unworthy slave, pray to Thee: drive from us our spiritual ignorance,
enlighten us with the knowledge of Divine Truth, and teach us to ceaselessly
repeat this prayer undistracted, in humility, attentively, with a feeling of
repentant contrition, with our mind and heart,
according to our vows of
monasticism.

"Lord Jesus Christ, Son
of God, have mercy on me a sinner. "
Thou hast
said, O Lord, with Thy most pure lips: "Whatsoever ye shall ask in My
name, that will I do." (Jn 14:13).
Through the
prayers of Thy Most Pure Mother, (name whatever
Holy God-pleasers you desire) and our Holy Fathers, I ask
through Thy Name for the prayer of Thy most holy and all powerful Name.
Hear me,
Thou who didst promise to hear all those who call out to Thee in Truth. For
Thine it is to show mercy and save, and to
grant prayer to those who pray to Thy Glory, with
the Father and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

дай мне с
душевным
спокойствием
встретить
все, что
принесет
мне
настоящий день.
Дай ме
всецело
предаться
Воле Твоей
Святой. На
всякий час
сего дня во
всем
наставь и
поддержи
меня.
Какие
бы я ни
получил
известия в
течение дня,
научи
принять их
со
спокойной
душой и твердым
убеждением,
что на все
Святая Воля
Твоя!
Во
всех моих
делах и
словах
руководи
моими мыслями
и чуствами!
Во всех
непредвиденных
случаях не
дай мне
забыть, что
все
ниспослано
Тобой!
Научи
меня прямо и
разумно
действовать
с каждым
членом
семьи моей,
никого ни
огорчая, никого
ни смущая!
Господи,
дай мне силу
перенести
утомление наступающего
дня и все
события в
течение его!
Руководи
моею волею и
научи меня
молиться,
надеяться,
верить,
любить,
терпеть
ипрощать!Аминь.

Grant unto me, O Lord, that
with peace of mind I may face all that this new day is to bring. Grant unto
me to dedicate myself completely to Thy Holy Will.
For every hour of this day,
instruct and support me in all things. Whatsoever tidings I may receive
during the day, do Thou teach me to accept tranquilly, in the firm conviction
that all eventualities fulfill Thy Holy Will.
Govern Thou my thoughts and
feelings in all I do and say. When things unforeseen occur , let me not
forget that all cometh down from Thee.
Teach me to behave sincerely
and rationally toward every member of my family, that I may bring confusion
and sorrow to none. Bestow upon me, my Lord, strength to endure the fatigue
of the day, and to bear my part in all its passing events.
Guide Thou my will and teach
me to pray, to believe, to hope, to suffer, to forgive, and to love. Amen
