QUESTION 1

"The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him ..." (Mat 22:23)

What had happened previously on that day?

QUESTION 2

Describe the two sects of the Jews, the Pharisees and Sadducees.

QUESTION 3

"Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother." (Vs 24)

Describe the custom mentioned, and the reasons for it.

QUESTION 4

"For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven." (Matthew 22:30)

How are the blessed like the angels in heaven?

QUESTION 5

"But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, {32} I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living." (Vs. 31)

What is Jesus quoting?

QUESTION 6

"But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, {32} I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living." (Vs. 31,32)

Jesus' retort to the Sadducees is somewhat ambiguous, and clearer evidences of the teaching of the resurrection exist in the Old Testament. Why did He choose these?

QUESTION 7

In another place it says: "For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living." (Rom 14:9)

Reconcile this with: "But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, {32} I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living." (Vs. 31,32)
