Commemoration of the Sixth Ecumenical Council.

Commemorated January 23 in the Orthodox Christian Menaion

From the Prologue

Held in Constantinople in 680-81 and 692, this Council condemned the Monothelite heresy which held the erroneous teaching that there is in Christ only a divine will and not a human one. In addition to that, it made some rulings concerning the order and discipline of the clergy.
