Learning to forgive is a pearl of great price as is the ability to not judge others. As my friend Shawn said, "God works best with broken people." The process of becoming truly broken and humbled is an intimate and painful experience. But in that intense emotional hardship and pain, that desert of abandonment, suffering and despair, one can find redemption, by learning to not judge others and by learning to completely forgive, holding nothing back.
I'm still working on all of it even though I've been an Orthodox Christian for many years now. I'm weak, do not pray consistently, fast very poorly, if at all, don't attend services often enough but when I am listening, I hear something beautiful and soothing to a terribly troubled spirit. In those moments I know I have found Truth and its very close relative, Peace.
In Christ,
David A.
